Jonas Carpignano is a filmmaker based in Gioia Tauro His short films have been shown in film festivals around the world including Venice Cannes SXSW and New DirectorsNew Films In 2011 his short film A CHJANA won the Best Short Film at the 68th Venice Film Festival and was awarded a Nastro DArgento Special Mention from the Association of Italian Film Critics SNGCI His latest short film YOUNG LIONS OF GYPSY was part of the Official Selection of the 53rd Critics Week at Cannes where it won the Discovery Award Carpignano was an alum of the 2012 Sundance Screenwriters Directors Lab and the recipient SundanceMahindra Global Filmmaking Award In 2012 he was named one of the top 25 new faces in independent film by Filmmaker Magazine His debut feature film is MEDITERRANEA selected at La Semaine de la Critique at Cannes IFF
