Philipp Yuryev Russian Филипп Юрьев born 15 January 1990 is a Russian filmmaker He graduated from the VGIK Russian State University of Cinematography directing department in 2011 His first student film THE MORNING WITH DIFFERENT EYES 2008 won several prizes at international film festivals including São Paolo IFF and Abu Dhabi IFF as well as Montreal and InterFilm Berlin His next short film THE MODIFIED LANDSCAPE 2009 was shown at CineGlobe IFF Geneva and received a special mention and special jury prize for best cinematography at the Saint Anna student film festival in Moscow His thesis film THE SONG OF THE MECHANICAL FISH 2012 was selected for the short film competition program at Sundance and ClermontFerrand and received the Special Jury Prize at Rio de Janeiro IFF and at Message To Man IFF in St Petersburg His feature directorial debut THE WHALER BOY 2020 premiered at the Venice Film Festival and won the top prize in Venice Days program
