Hollmann received his acting training from Otto Brahm and began his stage career in 1900 as a trainee at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin Then he performed in Freiburg im Breisgau Libau and Beuthen In 1904 he was back in Berlin where he received an engagement at the Lustspielhaus in the fall of 1905 Other Berlin stage stations were the Theater on Königgrätzer Strasse the Theater on Nollendorfplatz and most recently the Theater on Schiffbauerdamm He acted in classical and modern plays especially by August Strindberg and Frank Wedekind
