Ligia Ciornei was born in Suceava a city near the border with Ukraine which was and is a source of inspiration for her films He lives in Bucharest during which time he studied Film Directing and Film Production at the National University of Theater and Cinematography IL Caragiale Bucharest He is currently a doctoral student at the same university She stood out internationally with the short films Vintage and Somewhere in Moldova she made her theatrical debut with the show Grounded by George Brant which in turn was appreciated by critics and theater selectors Citadela is a performative installation about the first female pilots in Romania and managed to define the young director as an interdisciplinary artist
